Plasma flow angle conventions

The flow longitude angle, in degrees, increases positively (negatively) from zero as the flow direction changes away from the -Xgse axis toward the +Ygse (-Ygse) axis.

The flow latitude angle, in degrees, increases positively (negatively) from zero as the flow direction changes away from the (X-Y)gse plane toward the +Zgse (-Zgse) axis.

Geocentric Solar Ecliptic (gse) coordinates have unit vectors from the Earth to the sun (X), normal to the ecliptic plane, positive northward (Z), and Y = Z x X.

For Explorer 35, note that these sign conventions are changed relative to those used in the data version provided by the MIT Explorer 35 team, to provide consistency with most other solar wind plasma data.
